In the field of emergency medical services, it is well known that in out of hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), the chances of meaningful recovery and survival drop 7-10% for every minute that CPR is delayed. Therefore, in the minutes it may take EMS to arrive on scene to a cardiac arrest, chances of survival drop significantly.

The Revive and Survive Initiative is a partnership between the UCSD Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science and County of San Diego Emergency Medical Services with the goal of teaching 1 million San Diegans hands-only CPR, thereby increasing the chances of receiving lifesaving bystander CPR in the case of cardiac arrest.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at UC San Diego is working alongside Keeping the Beat SD to contribute to this initiative as a community partner, providing hands-only CPR training to UCSD organizations and the community. We can all contribute to this initiative by learning this vital skill, which anybody can learn. To read/learn more about the Revive & Survive Initiative, visit revivesurvive.ucsd.edu. If you and/or your organization are interested in getting trained, fill out this form.
